Cory Booker

Cory Booker has faced several controversies and allegations during his career, but he has not been convicted of any crime or formally sanctioned for corruption. In 2016, a U.S. Bankruptcy Court dismissed a negligence and breach of fiduciary duty lawsuit against Booker regarding his role as an ex officio board member of the Newark Watershed Conservation and Development Corporation. The court granted the dismissal based on public employee immunity. In 2025, an ethics watchdog filed a complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee alleging that Booker violated rules by linking a 25-hour floor speech to campaign fundraising solicitations. Additionally, in 2024, Booker's campaign reported to the FEC that a hacker stole $3,092 from its bank account. Booker also faced scrutiny in 2018 for releasing confidential documents during Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings; the Senate Ethics Committee reviewed the incident but did not find sufficient evidence of a violation. His 2020 presidential campaign faced accusations of reporting oversights regarding in-kind contributions.
