Eduardo Bolsonaro is a former Brazilian federal congressman. His career includes the following documented legal and ethical controversies: In December 2025, Eduardo Bolsonaro had his parliamentary mandate revoked by the Chamber of Deputies’ Board of Directors due to excessive unexcused absences from legislative sessions after failing to return from an extended stay in the United States. In February 2026, the Supreme Federal Court (STF) formally opened a criminal case against him, making him a defendant for the crimes of obstruction of justice and coercion in the course of a judicial proceeding. The charges, filed by the Prosecutor-General’s Office (PGR) in September 2025, allege that Eduardo and blogger Paulo Figueiredo lobbied U.S. government officials to impose sanctions against Brazilian authorities and the STF to influence the criminal case of his father, Jair Bolsonaro. Additionally, in September 2025, the Chamber of Deputies’ Ethics Council opened a disciplinary process against him following four representations alleging breach of parliamentary decorum, specifically regarding his attacks on the STF and his efforts to promote international sanctions against Brazil.
