Eric Adams

In September 2024, Eric Adams was indicted in the Southern District of New York on five counts: one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, one count of wire fraud, two counts of soliciting campaign contributions from foreign nationals, and one count of soliciting and accepting a bribe. The indictment alleged he accepted over $100,000 in luxury travel, hotel stays, and illegal straw donations in exchange for political favors, including pressuring the FDNY to approve a Turkish diplomatic tower without a fire inspection. On February 14, 2025, the Department of Justice moved to dismiss the indictment. Judge Dale E. Ho granted the motion to dismiss the case with prejudice later that year. This action led to the resignations of several high-ranking federal prosecutors. While the charges were dismissed, the investigation was part of a broader series of inquiries into his administration that saw the resignations of numerous top city officials, including his police commissioner and schools chancellor. Adams has consistently maintained his innocence, characterizing the legal proceedings as politically motivated.
