Farhad Hossain

Farhad Hossain, a Bangladeshi politician affiliated with the Bangladesh Awami League, has been involved in multiple legal investigations and allegations related to corruption and graft. In 2025, a Dhaka court imposed a travel ban on him and his wife, Monalisa Islam, amid graft investigations conducted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) (The Business Standard, 2026). Further, in September 2024, Hossain was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from Dhaka's Eskaton area and handed over to police, following allegations of corruption (The Business Standard, 2024). Subsequently, in February 2026, he was formally placed under arrest in a corruption case after the court approved the ACC’s request, citing assets worth over Tk 1.11 crore that were inconsistent with his known sources of income, which were allegedly acquired through abuse of power (UNB, 2026; The Business Standard, 2026). As of April 2026, there are no reports of convictions or formal charges leading to a conviction, and some allegations appear to be ongoing investigations. There are no publicly reported scandals involving bribery, fraud, or ethics violations beyond these investigations.
