Several individuals serving as mayors or municipal leaders in the Czech Republic have faced legal and ethical controversies: Petr Hlubuček (Lysolaje) was removed from office following his arrest and detention for his alleged involvement in organized economic crime concerning the Prague Public Transit Company. Pavel Novotný (Řeporyje) received an unconditional three-month prison sentence in May 2025 after violating probation for previous convictions involving disorderly conduct and harassment; he committed seven additional offenses, including drug possession and drunk driving, during his probationary period. Ondřej Baránek (Havířov) was removed as mayor in January 2026 following his indictment for alleged manipulation of municipal apartment rentals between 2019 and 2023. Martin Charvát (Pardubice) faced imprisonment and trial for manipulating public tenders and breaching fiduciary duties regarding city construction projects. Jiří Novotný (Brno-Černovice) received a three-year suspended sentence and fines for accepting over five million CZK in bribes and manipulating public contracts. Ondřej Kolář (Prague 6) faced public criticism regarding the misuse of municipal funds for a personal interview in Playboy and for ordering legal services from a former classmate that were later flagged as overvalued and plagiarized. Prague city officials, including the mayor, have been questioned by police regarding a December 2024 auction of properties in Braník, where authorities suspect collusion and the illegal leaking of a secret price limit.
