Scott Perry, the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 10th District, has faced the following reported legal and ethical matters during his career: In 2002, Perry was charged with falsifying reports regarding water quality at a sewage plant while associated with a company called Hydrotech. He entered the state's Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program, and the charges were subsequently dropped. The company paid a $5,000 fine. In 2022, the FBI seized Perry's personal cell phone via a warrant as part of a federal grand jury investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. While federal investigators identified potential violations regarding obstruction and conspiracy to defraud the United States, Perry has never been charged in connection with these events. Perry challenged the search of his phone, claiming privilege under the Constitution’s Speech or Debate Clause. Following a series of court rulings, a federal judge ordered a portion of the phone's records disclosed to the Department of Justice. Additionally, Perry refused to cooperate with the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, rejecting their requests for testimony and documents.
