Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad

Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad, a former Felda chairman and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, has a documented history of corruption and ethics controversies. In 2005, he was suspended from UMNO for three years after being found guilty of money politics during the 2004 party elections. In 2021, the High Court convicted him on nine counts of corruption involving RM3.09 million in bribes to approve Felda’s RM160 million purchase of the Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites. Although the Court of Appeal acquitted him in 2024, the Federal Court reinstated his conviction on February 10, 2026. He is currently serving a six-year prison sentence and was fined RM15.45 million. Additionally, a 2019 government White Paper identified conflicts of interest and mismanagement under his leadership at Felda, citing numerous unauthorized property acquisitions and dubious investments that caused losses exceeding RM100 million. In 2024, the High Court ordered him to pay nearly RM1 million to FGV Holdings for the unauthorized occupation of luxury condominium units.
