Xu Chuanzhi, a former deputy-ministerial-level inspector for the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and former discipline chief in Ningxia, is currently facing trial in the Ningbo Intermediate People’s Court. Following an investigation announced on October 14, 2025, Xu was expelled from the CPC on January 4, 2026, for severe disciplinary and legal violations. Authorities allege Xu accepted especially huge sums in bribes by exploiting his positions at the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Ningxia supervisory commission, and central inspection teams. He is charged with both direct bribery and accepting bribes through the use of influence, including post-retirement misconduct where he leveraged his past status to secure benefits for others via state employees. The investigation further identified that Xu violated frugality rules, accepted improper banquets and gifts, practiced personnel favoritism, and interfered in judicial, law enforcement, and economic activities. His illicit gains were confiscated, and he was found to have resisted the official investigation.
